Our Team
Instructors
Alex Heroys (MSDT 80067)
I have been diving since 1987, working in the Med, Caribbean and the Red Sea as an Instructor and Manager. I founded Indepth UK with Helen and worked for the Indepth resorts for years before. "I still truly love introducing any divers to new experiences and passing on my years of experience".
Helen Geall (OWSI 600345)
I have been an instructor since 1995. After living and diving in Asia, the South Pacific and the Caribbean, I now enjoy the challenge of teaching in the UK and working with Alex! Of course I am still renowned for my love of holidays to warmer climes and drinking the odd glass of wine!
Steph Williams (MSDT 642239)
I learnt to dive in 2002 and qualified as an OWSI in 2006. Specialties include EFR, Dry Suit, Deep, Wreck, Nitrox, Navigation and Photography. Worked for Indepth since early 2006. Dived in many places including Maldives, Thailand, Caribbean, Central America, Egypt & UK. I love to see divers faces after qualifying or fun dives (plus hawkfish and juvenile spotted drums!!)
Lifetime member of the Depeche Mode fan club.
John Stewart (MSDT 634928)
I'm the mature one, well, maybe only in years! My first diving experience was in the year following the 'Summer of Love' (work it out for yourself). Since then I have been lucky enough to have dived all around the world. As an instructor with Indepth I get to work with a terrific team and some great students. I love running Rescue Diver courses, which really stretch people, both physically and mentally.
Phil Porter (IDC SI 618784)
I have been diving since 1994 and an instructor since 2000. I am currently an IDC Staff Instructor and can teach Specialties in Nitrox, Navigation, Dry Suit, Deep, Peak Performance Buoyancy and Multilevel. As well as teaching in the UK, I worked as an instructor for several years in Asia and have also participated in marine research projects in Belize.
Sid Gray (OWSI 643095)
I started diving in 2002 and became an Instructor in 2007. I am a speciality instructor in Multi-Level, Deep, Boat, Nitrox and Search & Recovery. I am also an EFR instructor. I have dived mainly in the UK but also the warmer waters of the Med and Egypt. I love to dive and enjoy helping new divers gain skills and confidence both in the pool and Open Water.
Pete Askew (OWSI 650070)
Learn't to dive With Indepth and never looked back.
Enjoys the challenge of diving in the UK. But would much rather dive in the warm Rea Sea, Don't we all!
Surface Support
Vanessa Heroys
Our fantastic surface support who is a diver but will not go anywhere near water unless it is at least 26 degrees plus! Recently became a mum!
Paul Jackson (DM)
I started by doing a couple of try dives in Malta and loved it. Shortly after coming home Helen and Alex opened Indepth.I walked in and signed up for my open water shortly after, I think I was among the first to qualify at the shop.Since then I have gone on to do my Dive Master, I still love diving and enjoy helping students to find their way and to enjoy diving as much as I do.
Chris Thorpe (DM)
After landing on the top of a double decker bus without seeing it in badly named "Crystal Waters" on my first open water dive in the UK (not with Indepth!) I decided warmer waters were for me. After heavy medication I'm back diving in the Uk regularly again with Indepth and loving it.
Will Marsh (DM)
I have always loved the water and been fascinated with the aquatic world. My first scuba diving experience was in the South China Sea, where I was used as a human bag! This near disastrous introduction into the diving world made me realise I needed to learn to dive properly. I chose Indepth and have since taken various courses and enjoyed some fantastic locations on their group holidays. I now look forward to taking the next step to become an Instructor. Try it, there really is nothing better than finishing a dive and shouting out (in a Lloyd Grossman voice) "Hello David!!, Beef tomatoes in a putnasska source" once surfacing!!!......
Gwaine Cook (DM)
With my claim to fame (Indepths longest ever divemaster in training) now thankfully dismissed, completed the DM test in late June 08, I shall now have to look for another course to maybe reach such dizzy heights again! Thanks Indepth for your amazing patience!!
Glyn Knowles (DM)
First experience of open water was at Wraysbury in 2004, since then have divecd in Oz, NZ, Malta, Grand Canaria, Egypt and or course Stoney Cove!. Love it all! Qualified as a DM in 2009 and also and EFR Instructor. Best part of diving with Indepth, apart from the free tea, it's a great group of divers, friendly, relaxed & fun. doing my open water with Indepth has really changed my life, who knew breathing underwater was such amazing fun!
Ian Hayes (DM)
Having become a MSD Iin 2007, the next step was DM which I completed in 2009. This has given me considereably more confidence and the teaching & support from the InDepth team has definately helped. Have dived in Egypt, Oz, New Zealand & Malta - all of which are great in different ways! Love being underwater as it's a fantastic way to relax & escape the world above!
Marcus Gough (DM)
I passed my OW cert in 1990 and have spent almost all my diving in & around UK waters, after a long vreak from diving (work, booo) my son Joss, passed his OW, when he was 12 and since then with meeting the guys at Indepth i've thrown myself back into the wet stuff. 2009 saw me diving in the red sea for the first time, WOW. Now doing my DM training and loving it, i'm then hoping to go into tech diving........hey it's better than golf!!
