Gives the diver the knowledge and techniques required for the safe use of a Surface Marker Buoy and Delayed Surface Marker Buoy.

What form will the course take?

This course is designed to introduce a diver to the use of a SMB (Surface Marker Buoy) and a DSMB (Delayed Surface Marker Buoy) and to helping you develop the skills and knowledge necessary for safe diving with a SMB.

Whether its use is for a visual reference for the shore or a boat, to make boat traffic aware that there are divers below or for a visual reference for divers to ascend, the safe use of an SMB is paramount to safe diving practices. Through the SMB Specialty course you will get the skills, knowledge and procedures you need to dive safely with a SMB

• Certification counts toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

The Course Schedule

The course includes an on-site knowledge development session (no prior reading required) and two open water dives. Please check with an Instructor at In Depth Diving for the next scheduled course dates.

This is the ideal course to do in the UK or in warmer climes on a trip organised by Indepth.

What qualifications do I need?

You must be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization). You must be at least 12 years old.

Course Fee

The course costs £100 and includes tuition/Instructor fees. Equipment rental and transportation costs to dive sites are not included in the price.

On completion of the course, there is an additional certification fee due to PADI of £25.

A deposit of £50 will be required and you will also be asked to sign a Medical Statement, a Standard Safe Diving Practices Statement of Understanding and an Express Assumption of Risk form prior to the start of your course.
