Bonaire

Just north of Venezuela lies one of the most beautiful eco-friendly destinations in the diver’s handbook – Bonaire, the smallest island of the Netherlands Antilles. It’s a perfect, all-year, family holiday destination, with little rainfall, a village feel and much to see and do.

Once is never enough to visit Bonaire, an unspoilt hideaway which prides itself on looking after its natural surroundings, for over 25 years it has been a designated marine sanctuary. Although it is the undisputed shore diving capital of the world, with superb visibility and a thriving underwater macro life, observing Bonaire’s wildlife above the water is equally rewarding - especially the island’s flamingos and iguanas. Windsurfing at Lac Bay, kayaking through the mangroves and mountain biking through Washington Slangbaai National Park, also provide enjoyable diversions, as do the island’s excellent restaurants and locally brewed beer.
